Who Said Blog Carnivals Don’t Work?

Who Said Blog Carnivals Don't Work?I’ve been promoting my blogs through Blog Carnivals since around the beginning of the year.  It’s free, it only takes a few minutes and it’s a possible source of traffic.

I have seen traffic coming to my blog since submitting them to Blog Carnivals but was really surprised when I received an email recently from a gentleman by the name of Michael Powers.

Michael’s blog is “Mind of Michael dot Com” and on his blog he created a section featuring blogs he has come across in Blog Carnivals.  He found my blog, read a few posts and featured them on his blog.  Because I also appreciate people reaching out to help me, he asked if I would mind sharing one of his posts with my readers.

I visited Michael’s site and read the post he wanted me to share with you.  It’s titled “14 Reasons Why My Wife Will Never Be A Successful Blogger Like Myself“.  I thought it was really kind of cute and he really shared a good point in his post so I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Am I a sucker for helping other people?

You darn right I am…

Will I do this for every single person who will read this post and reach out to me to help them with the same thing?

Probably not…

But I appreciate the fact that Michael did read and liked my content enough to actually post a link on his blog.  Because of that, I felt it only fair to reach out to him as well.

The point I’m trying to make is that Blog Carnivals do work.

Will you get a ton of traffic?

Time will only tell…

But if I can get a hand full of people who like my blog enough to either visit me often, leave me comments or feature my posts on their blog, then that one whole minute it took me to post my link was SO worth my time.

Guess it’s your turn now.  Have you had anyone reach out to you in regards to some of your posts that were found on Blog Carnivals?  Just curious because this is my first experience and you all know how I do love first experiences.  LOL!!!

So tell me, am I a big sap, a sucker or just an old softy for falling for this?  We do have to live and learn right!

If you enjoyed this post, please share it with your friends!

Who would think that submitting your blog to Blog Carnivals would give you exposure with another blogger’s readers?! Sometimes simple things can do wonders for you. We must never undermine any traffic generation method no matter how simple or worthless it seems to be…

Thanks for sharing this with us. I have been thinking about featuring other bloggers too. I think it is a great way to build relationships and drive more traffic to my blog.

I always enjoy your posts!

Keep sharing!

The funny thing is Mouh that since Michael contacted me, I’ve received another mention as well on someone’s blog. I am SO loving this and I knew it would pay off if I just kept it up and it has.

I’m also considering doing something as well to feature other people’s blogs too. Haven’t quite decided how to go about this but would love to hear what you come up with once you make that decision as well. Scratching my head over here…

I so enjoy your blog because you always are giving me so many wonderful new ideas. I love that when I come to someone’s blog so I appreciate that you enjoy my posts as well. Thanks my friend.

Have a blessed day!

Glad my video helped. It will definitely walk you through what to do.

Always a pleasure my friend.

Adrienne,

I have not tired blog carnivals. What would be the difference between a blog carnival and a site like Blogengage or Blokube?

I am asking because I looking for a new outlet and want to choose the one that will bring the best ROI of time.

Hi Sheila,

Blog carnivals have tons of different categories that you can choose from. By placing your posts in the most relevant carnival, it will be spread around to different blogs that also participate in them as well. For those people who aren’t big on search engine results or who are members of blogging communities such as Blokube, etc. they are able to locate information that they may not have found any other way. It takes like 1 minute tops to submit your post and it’s all free. You don’t have to spend time viewing blogs or commenting. That’s the benefit. People find your posts, either come to your site or share your content with their readers as well. Did that explanation help any?

Hi Adrienne,

It’s a long time since I tried blog carnivals, and I guess I have sort of forgotten about them. I remember that I got some traffic from the few I attended, but I don’t think my blog posts was any good, so that’s probably why I didn’t get a lot of traffic :-)

I’ve just been to a huge marketing conference in Norway, and I’ve been listening to speakers like Gary Vaynerchuck and Chris Brogan and many others, and the thing you’re doing here is exactly what they are all saying that we should be doing. It’s the Thank You Economy (Gary Vaynerchuck) and Trust agents (Chris Brogan). It’s about sharing and helping out.

Now, I’ll take a look at the article, thanks a lot for sharing.

Hey Jens…

I had forgotten about them as well. Consistency has always been a problem for me too. But at the first of the year I made a promise to myself that I was going to be consistent with what I’m doing and then see if it started paying off. It is so I think just sticking with it is the best way to really start seeing some results.

Wow, that’s so neat of you to share that with me about the conference. You know, I’ve always been very appreciative of things people do for me. Anyone who knows me personally knows that when you give me something you WILL be getting a thank you card in the mail. My Mom taught me well. So why not do the same online! Glad to know I’m headed in the right direction and these guys are letting everyone know they should as well.

Thanks Jens for stopping by. Now, get to reading what you just loaded on your new Kindle and have fun! :-)

Jens

I wish I’d had the time (and money) to come attend that conference. It sounds awesome. Did Gary bring the thunder? (That guy is very switched on….very inspiring).

And Adrienne – like others I’m always looking to add traffic. So I’m heading off to check out your Blog Carnivals video….heard of blog carnivals, never used them.

Good for you Paul, you’ve got a great blog to share with us so just start spreading it around a lot more.

Appreciate it!!!

I do submit my blog posts to blogcarnival too. And I receive only around 10 of below 10 traffic from blog carnival every month.
Perhaps I’m yet to reach out the greater potential of it. :D

Hey Jia,

It’s a pleasure to see you here my friend.

I think they take time and although you may not receive a ton of traffic from them initially, my results are showing that people are reaching out to me and showcasing some of my posts on their blogs which will put my information out there even more. Since it’s a free method and takes no time at all, I think it’s something worth continuing. I’ve only been doing it a little over 4 months now so I’m starting to see some amazing results. Consistency is the key. We both know that nothing magical will happen quickly!

Thanks for stopping by, I so appreciate it. Hope you are having a wonderful day!

I definitely found that out after visiting his blog Christian. Have another one I’ve been included in so am thinking how I set them up for my blog as well and show them my appreciation for recognizing my content. I’ve definitely got my mind going on this one.

Glad my post has helped you Christian. I’m learning that a lot of these free methods are really really working so people just need to stick with them and give them time. You know that people come and go online so I think a lot of this has to do with consistency and seeing if they will be hanging around. That definitely helps as well.

Always appreciate your thoughts and encouragement. People like you make this experience so enjoyable. You’re the best!

When I first started blogging, one of the best blogging methods for free traffic that I used was Blog Catalog. I was amazed at how much traffic I was receiving with only a little time investment each day. If your mind is open to the idea, you can find SO many ways to get traffic coming into your blog.

I used Blog Catalog as well Christian. Unfortunately, I ended up being friends with a lot of people who were not interested in the same things I were. I found it really hard to comment on their blogs. Of course now, I’m kind of off in a different direction and it may be different now. Thanks for that reminder, may have to check them out again.

No, I haven’t had any luck with that place. I thought it seemed kinda stupid at first, but I got my helper going through and putting my links there for me but nothing has come of it.

I guess you have to hit on the right one – kinda like a gamble.

Probably consistency helps too ;-)

I thought the same thing when I first started Linda but when I started this journey with FTM I told myself that I was going to keep doing what I have been taught consistently and see how it all works out. I didn’t start using blog carnivals in January, it was probably February or March ( don’t really remember now) but I’ve been consistent with it since I started and am now getting some major response.

I write a short description where Sally told us it wasn’t important but I think it is. Just like everything else, it takes time so I would keep it up because it only takes about a minute to do. Not much if you can start getting traffic.

Thanks for stopping by my main blog. I appreciate it!

Have a great evening and congratulations on finishing the report. I’ll grab it tomorrow for sure.
