I just can’t let this year slip by without thanking my very dear blogging buddies for naming me as one of those lucky recipients of the “Sunshine Award”.
Imagine my surprise when back on November 26th I visited Samantha Bangayan’s blog, What Little Things, and saw that she had nominated me as one of the recipients of this award. I was so very touched that she thought of me. That in itself is an honor.
Then on December 13th I visited Kim Davies’ blog, Viz Source, and saw that she had also nominated me for this fun award. Thank you SO much Kim.
On December 22nd I stopped by Bill Dorman’s blog, Bill Dorman, to see what he was up to that very fine day. Not only was he also a recipient of this awesome award, but be nominated me too. Dang, am I one lucky lady or what! Now that’s a great note to end this year on wouldn’t you agree?
What’s This All About Anyway
I have no idea who started these things but I found it kind of fun so I did a search on Google just to see what I could find. It seems there have been a lot of awards with this name anywhere from recognizing businesses in the Caribbean to government participation. Some of the other blogs I’ve run across aren’t carrying on the same requirements that I was presented with but who cares right! It’s definitely been a viral tradition so it seems.
So what’s this all about anyway you might ask. Is there a prize attached or some special kind of recognition in the rule books of blogging? Not exactly but the Sunshine Award is presented to “bloggers whose positivity and creativity inspire others in the blogosphere.” See what an honor it is now?
There Are Rules Involved
Ah yes, there are rules involved with this lovely award. I have a few obligations that come with this. They are:
Rule #1: Thank the person(s) who gave you the award.
Rule #2: Answer 10 questions
Rule #3: Pass the award on to 10-12ish deserving bloggers
The 10 Questions:
So I’ve definitely thanked the people who blessed me with this award so now I have 10 questions to answer. They are:
1. Favorite color – That one’s easy, it’s blue.
2. Favorite animal – Dog because it’s a woman’s best friend hands down.
3. Favorite number – 4 and I have no idea why, it’s just always been my favorite.
4. Favorite drink – Amaretto, because it’s just really good.
5. Facebook or Twitter – Facebook because I can interact more there.
6. My passion – Helping others without a doubt.
7. Giving or receiving gifts – Giving, definitely giving.
8. Favorite day – Every day, I’m just happy to be here.
9. Favorite flower – Gardenia because they smell absolutely amazing.
10. Favorite food – Mexican food, beef fajitas hands down.
10 Bloggers Also Deserving Of This Award
Now comes the hard part. Trying to chose people who you believe are deserving. In all honesty, I believe the majority of my blogging buddies are worthy of such an award.
Since this is going to be hard enough I decided to use the example that Bill did over at his place. I went back over the last three months to see who has left the most comments on my blog. It was a time consuming process but everyone I have listed have been pretty darn good at leaving comments these past few months. Did they make every single post, not all of them but their dedication was worthy of this award.
For those who have already been nominated, just know that you rate in my book too and that I just had to recognize you as well. Here are my picks for the Sunshine Award.
1. Jeffrey Morgan of Bloggers Market - Although Jeffrey is in the middle of a launch and busy as all get out, I’m awarding this to him anyway. He’s finished blogging over at Bloggers Market but it’s not his last blog. He has been instrumental in helping me and is just a darn nice guy. By the way, if you stop by his blog check out the banner he created at the very top. See if you recognize that girl! :-)
2. Carolyn Nicander Mohr of The Wonder of Tech – Carolyn has been a rock since I met her. She’s not only grown to be a good friend but that woman knows her tech now. If you want to know anything and I mean anything about gadgets, apps, phones, etc. just visit Carolyn’s place and you’ll feel like you’re in tech heaven.
3. Janet Callway of Janet Callway – Janet remains quite busy and lives in the beautiful state of Hawaii. She not only delivers quality and inspirational content over at her blog but she’s also become a very wonderful friend. She always stops by and if she gets busy, she makes the time to come back by all my posts, read every single word and leave the best comments. She’s a real trooper.
4. Jens Berget of Sly Marketing – I was initially intimidated somewhat when I first visited Jens blog but I soon learned that not only is he a great marketer but a genuinely nice guy even if he does reside in Norway. He works full-time at the college but can really tell a great story. Oh and did I mention that he’s writing his first novel! Unfortunately, in won’t be in English darn it.
5. Ruth Zive of The Freelance Writing Blog – What can I say about this young lady. What a gem she is and I’m so pleased that we connected here in the blogosphere. Ruth is a freelance copywriter and she is SO good at what she does. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know her better over these past few months and we are now in a mastermind group together and I’m learning even more from her.
6. Bill Dorman of Bill Dorman – So I know Bill nominated me and he’s already been nominated three times. So what does that say about Mr. Sunshine! That’s he’s one hell of a guy that’s what. Yep, I first stumbled upon Bill’s blog after seeing him all over the place. Bill’s full-time job is in insurance where he’s made a darn good name for himself but he’s also a very entertaining blogger. If you haven’t visited him before, which I’m sure you have, stop by and say Hi!
7. Deeone Higgs of Releasing Me Today – I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Deeone these past few months as well. Not only does he have a wonderful blog but he’s sharing his life experiences with us through his writings. His energy is contagious, his writing is beautiful, his story telling is amazing and his videos are starting to really rock. He’s one very talented young man.
8. Jimmy Tong of My Life Architects – Jimmy writes about personal development over at his blog and I enjoy every single post he shares. He originates in Singapore where he is a teacher. Many of us have struggles throughout our lives but Jimmy has been able to share with us the lessons he’s learned and show us all that anything is possible.
9. Barry Wells of Barry Wells – I can’t say enough wonderful things about Barry. I first met Barry earlier this year when I saw his tweets about his Mom. I could just relate to his love for his Mom so we just connected in that way first. Once I started visiting his blog I started learning so much from him in the internet marketing arena. Barry and I have come a long way together these past few months and I’m proud to be able to call him my friend.
10. Dee Ann Rice of Dee Ann Rice – Last but not least is Dee Ann whom I met through Barry Wells. Little did I know at that time that we participated in the same training program so we definitely were able to connect regarding what we had learned. Since then we have become good friends and Dee Ann has taught me a lot I didn’t know. I admire her so much because she’s a Mom, a wife, she works full-time, home schools her children and works online. She knows how to have it all.
Wow, That Was a Mouthful
If you made it all the way through this post I congratulate you. I didn’t want this year to end without thanking these dear friends for this wonderful award. It’s always an honor to be recognized for anything let alone having so many wonderful friends think so highly of you. I’m truly touched and honored by this.

I’m so very touched. You know when I first started commenting I was intimidated by a lot of blogs because I felt they were so popular that they wouldn’t want to hear what I had to say. How foolish I was and I’m so thankful that I finally made myself do it. Look how far I’ve come in just this year alone! I love reading other people’s blogs and sharing my thoughts with them. It really makes me smile knowing that you believe I add immense value to each post. I do my best you know and I think that’s all any of us can really do. I still think Janet has me beat by a huge mile.
Ah, you love blue too! Blue skies are so calming which I believe is where my love for the color started. As I’ve gotten older I’m now more into the deeper dark blues as my favorites but you really can’t go wrong with any shade of blue.

There was never a doubt about you not getting the award, and that too from so many people
I was initially puzzled whether we could give the award to more than one, but I guess its best to go with your heart and give it outright to those whom you know deserve it, irrespective of the fact that they have received it earlier or not
Had I done that, you would have got another one from me as well 
I can see that we have our favorite animal as our dogs there, and of course the passion of helping others, though yours is something that I need to learn from

Thank you Harleena, I appreciate that! I was quite surprised myself when I received it three times.
I know with the Versatile Award it stated that you couldn’t give it to someone who had already received it but there was nothing in these particular rules that said you couldn’t give it more than once. So for those who have received it several times already, like I did, just be honored that they are thought of so highly by their blogging friends.
I appreciate that you would have given it to me as well. I’m so touched!
I do love my dogs. I’ve always been a dog lover, it started early in my childhood but since I don’t have any children of my own, you can probably see why I’m even more attached to my child. The giving part just comes easy for me, I guess it’s in my nature.
I have no doubt that you know the majority of the bloggers I mentioned. Jeffrey has had his own business for well over 20 years and builds sites for clients. He’s ventured into internet marketing and I have no doubt he’ll be very successful. Although he’s closing down his main site, he’s going to be sharing a new one with us next week. I’m excited!

I was so delighted to learn more about you too. I totally agree with you on the powerful fragrance of Gardenias. They truly are in a class all by themselves. When I wrote my Sunshine Award, I used tulips as my favorite flower, but to honest, there are so many flowers that are my favorites; gardenias are definitely at the top of the list too.
As I continued to read your post, I was pleasantly surprised to find my name there. OMG! =) I wished I would’ve caught that moment on film. You have no idea how big my grin was.

I remember reading you loved tulips but Gardenias just take my breath away. Magnolias do too but Gardenias are my absolutely favorite. There are so many beautiful flowers that it’s hard to pick from them all I suppose.

Hi Sylviane,
Barry is a great guy and I’m so thrilled I got the chance to meet him as well. He interviewed me a few weeks ago and I know he had his first one a few weeks back too. I’m happy that people are starting to take notice of the work he’s doing as well. So glad we were able to meet through him.

Sorry to stick this one on you once again Bill but what can I say. I guess we are both “old faithfuls” when it comes to visiting so you were so worthy of this mention.
Ah thanks Bill, I think we both were. You light up the comments and I love your warped sense of humor myself. What can I say, I’m weird like that I suppose. But I appreciate your kind words and I’m so happy that you have such a high opinion of me. Sure hope I don’t let you down any time soon. Beware, if you or Carolyn say nasty things about me I’ll still come around too. Hey, just remembering Carolyn’s remark over at your place.
But on a more serious note I just want to thank you Bill for always taking the time to stop by. I know that what I share is probably not what you are into at the moment but I just appreciate your continued support. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you this year and I look forward to our continued friendship as 2012 slides on into the home plate. Won’t be long now.

Ah, don’t be disappointed. At least you finally made it and that’s what really counts right!
Who doesn’t like Bill! He constantly cracks me up and I actually love his warped sense of humor. I look forward to reading his post because he’s always so entertaining and what an overall great guy. I mean isn’t this what blogging is all about. Making those lasting connections and meeting some fabulous people along the way!

These contests are always fun and help us know each other better.
I’m a huge animal fan as well especially dogs ( have 3 already) and cats. They bring unconditional love and show us how to live our lives in the NOW..without worries and doubts but with full gratitude.
On the other hand I’m pleased to see here a list of top bloggers. Don’t know all of them but now is the perfect opportunity to do it.

Thank you my friend, I appreciate that and it’s really been fun. This year has been such a great learning experience for me and everyone has been just so nice. Winning these awards even if they are in name only has been amazing. I continue to savor each moment.
Do you have any photos of your children up on your Facebook page? If you have three of them then I’m sure you have pictures somewhere. The proud papa that you are. You are so right, animals give us unconditional love and I don’t know how I would ever get along without them in my life.
Oh, please do stop by and check out these other bloggers. They are top notch in my book and people I’ve really grown to admire and appreciate so much.
You are so kind Radu and it makes my heart full knowing you enjoy coming over to my blog. I struggle sometimes wondering what to write about next that my readers won’t find boring or redundant. Congrats! This is my first post, but I’ve been reading your blogs for a while now and I’ve thought you were Ms. Sunshine from the very first post I read. Your enthusiasm really comes through on every blog post and every comment you leave.

Even though this post is from last year (LOL) I still find it very appealing and fun to read!
I already know some of the people you mention on your list and I’ll be more than happy to connect with the rest as well.
I couldn’t help to notice your best food is beef fajitas (mexican) what is a bit funny is that I remember you saying somewhere you didn’t like chili or spicy food.
But yeah, beef fajitas are not necessarily spicy so it’s understandable!
We’re already moving deeper into 2012 so instead of wishing you a better 2012, I’ll wish you all the best TODAY and this week, hope you started it with a blast!

Last year, that sounds so far away. I had to chuckle too! But we just couldn’t wait for 2012 to get here so now 2011 is a thing of the past. Even if my post was just a week or so old.
Yep, I LOVE beef fajitas. The way they fix them here they have a fabulous flavor and are so tender. Good stuff for sure.
