Network Marketing Misconception #1

in Network Marketing

Network Marketing Misconception #1I know the year is young but I set some goals for myself and I’m following through with them. I’ve already hit the ground running and am so excited about what I have in store for myself and for you this year.

Remember in my first post when I shared with you the exciting things in store for 2012! One of the things I wanted to talk about more this year are the misconceptions a lot of people have within the network marketing industry.

Now I know that not all of you who read my blog are in network marketing but I truly believe that a lot of you will be able to relate to this first misconception just the same.

As you will notice, I shot a video to share this particular message with you because I decided to go back to the basics. Don’t worry, not all of my posts this year will be videos but I did promise to do more and I really felt that this particular message warranted you hearing it straight from me, almost in person.

So what did you think?  Was I talking to you or have you busted through this problem and finally figured it out like I did. It wasn’t easy to put a finger on now was it?

Wouldn’t you agree that this is what holds so many people from breaking through?  The main problem is that we aren’t even aware of our thoughts.  Just like when I read your comments and some will say I’ll “try” to implement that or they “aren’t sure” if they can do this.

You are already telling the big man upstairs that you can’t do it.  So guess what?  You won’t because you are shooting yourself in the foot before you ever got started.

Okay, so I’m ready to hear from you.  You know me, I really want your honest opinion.  How did you perceive my message, were you able to relate to what I’m saying at all and wouldn’t you agree that this is a major misconception?

So I guess I will be speaking to you very soon and I’m looking forward to it.

Wow, you nailed this one Adrienne… love you on video!

Mindset, mindset, mindset… there’s a reason why the people who have already succeeded say that Mindset is 90% of success… because it is! That’s why I’ve chosen 2012 to be my year of Mindset.

I have worked hard for a few years now, seen some success but not to where I think it should be. And I know that self limiting beliefs are holding me back. That’s why this year I am pledging to get myself a Mindset Coach. After all, I’ve had business coaches, blog coaches, etc… why not a mindset coach. Seems right to me.

Keep these videos coming, Adrienne… it brings out the real you! :-)

Hi Bob,

I went back and forth on this topic and just decided to put myself out there. Heck, it’s not like I haven’t already bared my soul to you guys already. Might as well suck it up and just go for it. This is a topic that is so near and dear to my heart so I had to share this with everyone.

I had NO idea how much mindset played a part in all of this when I first came online. I kept hearing people say you have to have the right mindset and you need to feel empowered and I admit, I didn’t have a clue what they meant. That’s what I love about this industry. It’s makes you dig down really deep and get rid of all those old insecurities. I didn’t realize I actually had so many.

I worked with a spiritual life coach a few years back but we just worked with one particular area I wanted to deal with at that time. So I highly recommend working with one and it’s a life changing experience.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic Bob and so glad you enjoyed the video. That is definitely the real me! :-)

Have a wonderful day my friend.

Awesome video Adrienne!

You are such a natural and I was just lost in your words, and it almost felt as if you were speaking directly to me :) I love your laugh as well- infectious and made me smile :)

I fall in the second category- as I am not lazy, though not all that into the marketing or networking niche, though I love the things you share on your blog. I have heard about network scams etc, though never really had or undergone through one- guess it stays away from me!

Yes, you did promise you would be putting up the videos and this is surely a wonderful start with this new year. Hoping to learn more along with you and your posts Adrienne- always a ready and willing learner!

Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week ahead :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you Harleena.. I was a little nervous putting this message out there but what the heck right! It’s not like you guys haven’t learned a lot about me already.

It’s really difficult these days to master a scam online. People don’t even understand the definition for the most part but when they don’t take action and see the results then they complain that it doesn’t work and yell scam. If they were to be truthful with themselves, they would know that they either haven’t done the work or their own limiting beliefs are what’s really holding them back. That’s why I love this industry because you have to work on yourself before you can really hit any type of success.

Glad you enjoyed the video format for this message so there will be plenty more to come as the year progresses.

Thanks for your ongoing support Harleena.. I really appreciate you!

Have a great week!

Adrienne, this video is about so much more than misconceptions relative to network marketing. This is about confidence and goal setting and motivation. And it’s a true inspiration.

I love your honesty and your vulnerability, and I feel privileged to be going through this journey with you. This is a lovely example of how you can reach through the computer screen and connect with your readers/viewers. I can COMPLETELY relate to so much of what you’ve discussed in this video.

Indeed, this is going to be our year! We are going to crack it! I will hold you to your goals.

Here is to more video, more success, more traction in 2012!

You are so right Ruth, it’s more then just the misconceptions relative to network marketing. I did want to speak to those in this industry who are dealing with a lot of the same issues I myself have faced. You know me, once I finally “get it” I’ve got to share it. ;-)

Thank you so much Ruth, that really means a lot. I am SO glad we met and are working through our goals this year together. I need someone like you to hold me to what I say I’m going to do.

I started out shooting these kinds of videos and then I was taught that the tutorials were the big things so I ventured off and did a lot of how to’s. But sometimes I think when you want to share something with your readers the written word doesn’t quite grab them like you would hope. Okay, maybe for you since you are the copyingwriting queen. I wanted this particular message to be given like we were sitting in the same room and I was just baring my soul. I’m so happy to hear that you were able to relate to what I was sharing. See, I think the majority of the people start off like this whether we know it or not. That’s why I wanted everyone to know they weren’t alone in this journey and there are people here to help and support them.

Thanks again Ruth, I really do appreciate you! You are my rock!

Elu Adrienne ;)

hmmm what I like about the video is….! talking about those lazy and pessimist people who just wants to make money online in the slothful way because I hate meeting one, even being friends with one…

secondly I love the optimism of yours Adrienne but what I really want to know is what drives you this good energy..?!

I really want to know why do you love helping people because for what have you said you don’t visualize the things that was not there…. but only the things that you posses and experience.. then what are those things that makes you that optimistic… I really want to know!!

And hehe lastly I saw your cute dog on the vid.. just passing trough…

Hey Timmons,

When you finally get the right mindset Timons, you won’t attract those types of people into your life any longer. That’s all I attracted when I first came online because my love of helping people didn’t go deep enough that it was only those who wanted to help themselves.

I’ve always had this energy about me Timons. As I mentioned in the video, I’m a very positive person. I have shared with my readers a lot of my history so be sure and go back and read my post “Lessons I Learned From A Truly Great Man“. That will tell you a lot. Way too much to share in a comment.

I’ve always loved helping people. I was always the person my friends came to for advice. I’m not quite sure why but it gave me such a fulfilling feeling knowing that I was able to help them. I also had difficulty in school so I think a lot of me wanting to help people online comes from my own experiences of people not being there for me. There are a lot of good people out there that just need someone to explain things better to them or lead them in the right direction. That’s what I love doing.

Yep, Kayla is always just walking around so you’ll see her quite often in some of my videos.

Hope I answered all your questions. If not, ask away again.

Thanks Timons…

Wow, this is great! Please do more of these videos. They are Wonderful!!! I felt like I was hearing my own thoughts come alive.
Yes, I too can visualize a banana (obviously) but cannot visualize success. I don’t know what that would look like for myself. It’s not about the money or getting rich. I can’t seem to define it concretely. And I read Jack Canfield’s wonderful book, The Success Principles. I visualize having 5 clients a month, giving 2 presentations a month (last month I actually had 2 presentations), getting more online connections and positive ‘noticibility’, having people reach out to me with requests, etc.
I’m one who says, “I’m trying”. Just recently I commented on Tim Brownson’s blog -…. “So I’d really like to be ‘successful’ in growing my own thing (I hesitate to use the word business) in terms of getting coaching clients, doing presentation (parenting and coaching) and growing my blogging world.”
And he replied, “And what makes you hesitate in calling your thing a business?”

That made me really stop and think. Am I stopping myself dead in my own tracks? I don’t see myself as a business person/money maker/entrepeneur. I just want to help people and be a source of inspiration. But how to get there – through what means? That’s what I can’t seem to visualize.
Anyway, your video reallay Resonated with me. Thank you soooo much.

Thanks so much Harriet, I’m SO glad you liked this one. I always share with everyone that when doing a video in front of the camera, just act like you’re talking to a good friend. Let the words come and don’t worry about a script. You are much more believable and people will be able to relate to you much more.

See, I KNEW I wasn’t alone. For the life of me I can’t visualize the end result. I know what I want now, finally.. I now also know how to get it and am doing the work. But to put a definition to the success thing is something I’ve yet to do. So I think we have to take a step back and ask ourselves what do we REALLY want.

As you said you want 5 clients a month, giving 2 presentations a month, getting more online connections and positive ‘noticibility’, having people reach out to me with requests, etc. So put those down as the goals you are going to achieve and then do the action steps it takes to get them. Know with every ounce of your being that it’s a given because it will show up on the big man’s terms, not ours. Don’t even worry about what success looks like. We will both know it when it gets here.

Wipe any negative thoughts and words from you mind and your vocabulary period. You can say them and think them because it takes time but catch yourself and just say, oops, I’m turning that thought around.

I know that I have beat myself up with what people have told me I have to think and do. So what I’ve learned is figure out what you want and just move in that direction. The rest will fall into place as it should.

Hi Adrienne,
Wow, you must have been inside of my head for a while, because I have exactly the same problem, and yes, I do want to be successful but it is so hard to define that.

I was once told I should break my goals into three, short term, mid term, and long term. But if you cannot achieve those short term goals, even though you believe you are doing everything by the book, then you can’t visualise anything because you have no markers.

That’s a great video. and to see that you, somebody I have grown to admire greatly, having the same problems, means to me and I am sure others, that we can beat this thing together,

I await your next videos eagerly,

Barry

Hi Barry,

I was certainly hoping that I was not the only person going through this. But my main goal was to share with everyone that although you are doing the work, the reason you aren’t seeing results are because of those beliefs that are holding us back. Mine was the success issue.

I have come to learn that I just need to write down the goals I want to achieve and I don’t take myself over six months. I then just take the action steps to reach those goals and the rest will fall into place as it should. I think for a lot of us who have problems visualizing the end results should just do what we can at the moment that will have us on the right path. Sounds to me that you are headed there as well.

I’m only human Barry and I have a feeling a lot of people can relate to this as well. I’m just so happy to be able to share this with you all so that you can see you are NOT the only person dealing with this issue. I want you to know you are not alone and let’s definitely beat this together. I’m on my way! :-)

Thanks Barry and have a great day!

Good day to you, Adrienne! :)

This was an awesome message! I thank you for showing us your vulnerability and for the amazing message in your video as well.

As you know, I have definitely shared in the feelings you shared with us in this message. We’ve each had the misconceptions of what success is and what it is not. What I have come to learn about success is that it’s an individual’s relationship between ourselves; we are to know what is success is to us. I think what happens a lot of times is that we allow societies portrayal of success to tell us what it is and what it is not. This is the worst possible thing that we can do to ourselves, and yes, I have certainly done that in the past.

Two Sunday’s ago I Tivo’d a program on the OWN Channel (Oprah’s new network for those who aren’t familiar), and on this particular program Oprah was talking with the successful director of the such movies as, Ace Ventura, Liar Liar, and Nutty Professor. Each of these movies were Huge at the box office, and the director actually received many awards, accolades, and of course wealth from each of them.

Well, long story short, he had a horrible biking accident that caused him to reflect upon all that he had gained through his successful career. The realization that he came to believe for himself is that with all that he had gained, he wasn’t anymore happier with any of it. So he ended up giving all of his possessions up and making what society would see as, a dramatic downsize.

He goes on to explain that the life that he had acquired from being a director wasn’t the life he had in mind for himself. He wasn’t saying that having “stuff” wasn’t good to have, but for “him” it wasn’t what “he” wanted or needed to bring happiness to his life.

This is what I came away with in watching the interview and afterwards a documentary he created of his journey, and I also believe it to be true for myself as well.

I believe in this life journey we have to first understand what it is we are most passionate about doing with the talents we’ve been given in life. We are to be found practicing this passion the best we know how to do, and learn daily how to perform our passions better. In so doing, what I think we will find is that we are happier doing this than if we weren’t doing what we were passionate about. And it’s that happiness… in that peace of mind… that we are aligned with the Universe and also successful. I also believe that if we continue in that direction doing what we absolutely LOVE, that what society sees as “success” will eventually come to us. We will automatically attract it.

Now, we can’t get displaced if that doesn’t happen the way we “think” it should happen. Not everyone was meant to be a millionaire, or have the fabulous house, or drive the fanciest car. If that’s what we seek, then we should send it out into the Universe and hope the Universe agrees with what we sent out. But we should also be prepared if that doesn’t happen.

I look at myself and what I’ve been doing over the last year. Two year’s ago I was in no way close to being the person I am today. Today however, I am very much successful! I’m currently unemployed and blogging full-time and as of today haven’t received anything monetary rewards from my endeavors. I’m blessed to have a partner that supports me and my vision. I’ll even share with you and your readers this little fact… in my own pocket I have 45 dollars (gathered from this past Christmas gifts) and in my bank account a little less than that. Yet still, I’m richer than I’ve ever been in my entire life.

Why? Because I’ve found something to do that lights me up and gets me out of bed in the morning. I’m doing something that I truly and honestly love to do. I’m doing something that makes me look at my present and my future with hope, joy, and expectancy; expectancy because I believe that if I continue to do what I love the Universe is going to conspire to continue to give me what I need… and possibly what I want. That for me is success.

I apologize for such a long comment today, but I’ve been thinking, meditating, and praying about this exact topic for several weeks now. And I think that it’s truly the Universe’s doing that cause you to upload this post. I hope that this is of much use for those that share in our misconceptions on success and that we all begin to believe as you’ve said here today, that we must begin to own what already is.

Loved this post, and thank you so much for eloquently putting it out there. All the best to you, and each of your readers in 2012 and beyond.

Ah Deeone,

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me and my readers regarding this issue. Wow, there are some fabulous lessons right there that you’ve just shared with us all.

I haven’t seen that documentary but I heard of this gentleman’s journey. As we spoke about this topic the other day and as you so eloquently mentioned it in this comment, we all have different thoughts about what success truly is. To me it’s having enough money to be able for me to enjoy life to the fullest. It’s not about extravagant things or a luxurious lifestyle. It’s about being able to spend more time with my family and perhaps travel with them more. It’s about being there for my Mom when she needs me.

I understand what you mean when you say that you may not have a lot of money on you right now but you are the richest person in the world because you are doing what you love and sharing your journey with us all. I use to have friends that griped at me because I never bought anything new for myself but I’m a simple person and love what I do have. To me it’s about your experiences with others that truly brings you happiness, not the things you own so someone can say, hey I love your couch.

Never apologize for saying what’s on your mind. You know I’m all about sharing my friend and I’m so happy you took the time to share all of this with us. It truly meant a lot Deeone.

Thank you so much for your friendship and for all your support. I know without a doubt that this year we will see so many breakthroughs and I’m excited to be going through them with you.

Ah Roger, I’m so touched… Being a new visitor to my place that really means a lot.

Glad you enjoyed this one on one chat I had with ya. I think it’s great to just be able to share with everyone that we all are still a work in progress. That’s right, every single one of us so we should never ever feel like we are alone. I believe once you can pinpoint where your problems lie and if you have the desire to overcome them than anything is possible. I believe I have had to go through all these ups and downs just so that I could grow as a person and as a business owner. I’m just glad my journey is helping others as well.

Thanks Roger and I’ll definitely be catching up with you later.

Adrienne, aloha. Great kick off post for this series. So many people need to hear this message and you say it so well, you will help people understand (1) they are not alone and (2) there is hope.

Over the years I have known many people to find visualizing to be a challenge. As you say, you can visualize a banana because you know what one looks. Here’s something that may help you as well as other readers. It has helped many people I work with to achieve their goals.

Before I give you the tip, I want to comment on the irony that so many people think “success” is a big house or fancy car. In reality, very few people want that and usually the reason they do is to prove that “they did it.”

To me, success is being able to do what you want to do, when you want to do it, with whom you want to do it. It’s living life on your terms. As you know, Sir Richard Branson is a a favorite of mine so, before I give the tip, here’s what he said about success:

“There is only one reason to be wealthy. It allows us to choose how we wish to spend our days.”

Okay, here’s the tip. Don’t be concerned about visualizing success and what it looks like. Instead, think about how it will feel to have your home paid off, $_________ in the bank, no credit card debt, be able to travel wherever you want. Most of us can imagine how good we would feel for certain things to happen. That’s what they should imagine, should feel because that excites them and, in most instances, is a somewhat familiar feeling that can be expanded. If you use your feelings as the focus, the energy will flood through you. You will be sending out the vibration of what you ant to the Man Upstairs.

Hope this helps you as it has helped so many others. Wishing you a glorious week ahead. Until next time, aloha. Janet

Hi Janet,

Well per our conversation a little while back you know there is more to come. :-) I kind of got off on my own little tangent here but just wanted people to understand that it’s their way of thinking or lack of that is what’s holding them back, not the actual work itself.

The irony is right. I was at one of our company meetings not long ago and the speaker, a top income earner, was giving us the story of how his dream car had always been a truck. He had it pictured and knew exactly what he wanted but was soon taught that in order to prove to others that success is possible, he couldn’t buy that truck. He needed to buy a mercedes so he did. He needed to bring that attention to himself so others would be curious about what he did. The whole time I was sitting there listening to him I was thinking what an idiot. You are letting other people dictate your life after you have finally made it. To hell with you, I’m getting the car I want and it’s no damn mercedes.

That’s what success means to me as well Janet. Just being able to do what I want, when I want it and with whom I want. Here’s my deal… I own my home, I own my car and I don’t have a lot of debt. So I already have the things most people wnat so terribly. Because I don’t know what it looks like or feels like to be able to do what I want, when I want it and with whom I want I’m not sure how to bring that energy to me. Does that make sense?

I guess I have to somehow invision myself coming and going as I please, doing whatever I want and with whoever I want and that’s what will bring about the energy to bring that to me? Am I understanding that correctly? See, I told you I’m still a work in progress but once I get this down, just think how many people I’ll be able to help.

Thanks Janet, I appreciate you helping me with this. I’m going to conquer this area once and for all and I’ve already given it up to him. I just need to learn how to bring the correct energy into my space.

Have a blessed day Janet and I appreciate you so much. #YouMatter!!!

Hi Adrienne,

I think it’s hard to visualize something you’ve never experienced. That’s why it’s hard to visualize success if you’ve never had it. (I’m talking about great success.) Once I finally had a little bit of success after failing miserably for many years, I started to visualize getting to the next level and then the next after that. That was easier than visualizing myself at one of the top levels of the company.

Wonderful video and great insights! Thanks for sharing it!

Hi Ilka,

I think my problem Ilka is that I was beating myself up trying to visualize the top spot you know. Like you said, take it one step at a time and the rest will come. I’ve started experiencing it now but I realized why I hadn’t had it before was because I was holding myself back not understanding what I was actually shooting for.

I don’t have to be the top income earner to be deliriously happy. Hey, if that comes I won’t turn it away I’m telling you that right now. I’m just saying that every time someone has tried to explain this to me that’s what they have told me to go for. That’s not exactly what my dream of success is.

Thanks for sharing this with me, it’s been very helpful and I’m glad you enjoyed my video. There will be more to come. :-)

Hi Adrienne,

Oh I can so relate. I would look at the top income earners and think to myself, “I can’t do that. I can never be like them, do what they do,” etc. It’s hard to imagine when you’re the little gal on the bottom of the totem pole. But you can see yourself be part of the people in the next level and then the next and so on. Right? You grow steadily into becoming one of the top income earners.

I guess I could never see myself at that top level Ilka because a lot of those top people in my company I definitely don’t want to be anything like. Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m sure they are all fabulous people and if I had the chance to actually have a one on one conversation with them I would think that same thing. But a lot of the impressions I get from them, no way in hell.

Maybe I just haven’t found that one person I can relate to that is at that level yet. But you know what! I deserve to be at that level and I’m going to show those baby boomers that you young kids just need to move on over and make room for me. And this baby boomer is going to show all of you how to build your business online. Oh yeah, that’s right! :-) Watch out cause here I come and you’re not even going to know what hit you! lol…

Hi Adrienne,

I have heard alot about Mindset and how important it is, for whatever avenue you take in life. I do think it’s something we need to continuously work on and if not able to do so alone, it is a good idea to get help. I started meditation awhile ago, I stopped, then started back. At the stage I’d got to, because I’d stopped, I’d lost it and had to start again. I find it’s great to clear the mind, see the big picture, what you want and need to do to get there, if it’s continuously worked on. I find it hard too, to visualise something I can’t see or grasp.

I get Napoleon Hill’s thought of the day sent to me and alot of his ‘thoughts’ are based on attitude and mindset. They’re great and quite often I’m reading away with the odd nod of the head. Without working on it though, it’s just words written on paper.

Thanks Adrienne, I think this is a very important topic in all areas.

Take Care

Hi Julie,

As I mentioned in my video Julie I’m a very positive person. So when someone would come to me and gripe about their day or their circumstances I would turn it around on them just like my Dad would do to me. They would then start believing in themselves more and their lives would start to turn around for them.

I’m really great at concentrating on only good things in my life even when I don’t yet have them. But seeing an outcome or visualizing how my life could be is outside of my grasp. Trust me, I’m working on this area every single day and I do meditate every morning as well. It took me literally two years before I became even more than half way decent in quieting my mind. I just refused to give up. So I know that has also helped me tremendously.

Hi Adrienne,
I liked you video . I really did I thought you were relaxed and real. I felt like you were talking to me in my living room as a friend. This video was a great thing for me. I was so happy to hear you say you have trouble picturing yourself in a place you never have been. Ihave a HUGE decsison to make and I have been trying to picture myself after the fact, where I will be how my life will be. I have had some trouble doing that and I have been afraid it’s because somewhere in my heart or head or both I know I won’t get there. It has been worrying me a lot lately. It’s a big move I have to make or I know I will never really be happyIf I don’t go through with it, but it’s so big and kind of scary. It’s that I’m not there yet! I didn’t see myself at all losing 120 lbs and I did so maybe you’re right! Thank you!, I was saying “Yes ! that’s me Adrienne!” Thank you for making me feel normal and not alone! You will get there too! Nothing can stop us Adrienne, only our own little vloice that tends to tell us the worst sometimes..but it’s bunk ! We will do it !

Hi Colleen,

Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Sounds like I accomplished what I set out to do.

So this decision you have to make, if you go through with it how will it make you feel? Will you be happy, delighted, excited, thrilled? Or will you be scared, sad, feeling alone, anxious… You get where I’m going with this right! Don’t try to picture yourself there, just go with how you think it will make you feel. That’s exactly what I’ve been learning and to stop beating myself up on what it will look like. Start concentrating more on how it will make you feel. This way, I’m sure the decision will come easier for you.

Any huge step is going to be scary but if you see it benefiting you down the road although it’s uncomfortable making the change, I say go for it anyway because that’s just the fear talking. The majority of the time once we are on the other side of that fear we realize it wasn’t so bad after all. That’s been my experience.

If you can accomplish losing 120 pounds then girl you can do anything. You know that’s not an easy thing to do but you wanted it and you went after it. You didn’t stop so don’t let this stop you either.

When those voices start just tell them to shut the hell up. You aren’t putting up with their crap anymore. Trust me, it works wonders.

Thanks Colleen, I appreciate you sharing that with me. Have a beautiful day okay!

Hi Adrienne

Great video. Yes there is more to having a positive mindset than just being upbeat all the time. I make a study of this and it is very interesting.
It is you subconscious that you have to work on. Visualization and affirmation are only part of it but I think, well at least for me, a major part of reaching your goals.
I am a firm believer in taking ACTION. There are people out there that want that “magic bullet” method but unfortunately- it does not exist. I believe in having your goals and working towards them.
You are right 2012 is going to be a great year.
To YOUR success

Hi Sue,

Thank you, glad it’s been well received so far.

My message was for those who are action takers yet are still not seeing the results. I meditate every morning, I write down my afformations, I have a positive attitude and I have learned to release the majority of the negative thoughts from my mind yet was still being held back. For those that aren’t visual people I don’t believe that you have to be in order to succeed. I believe that there is just a different way we need to be able to achieve our desired results.

Thanks for sharing this Sue. May we all have tremendous success in 2012.

Adrienne,

You are absolutely correct the #1 misconception in network marketing is that your success has to do with some other than you! “Its the compensation plan, its the product, its the website, its whatever else you can dream of” when the truth is IT IS YOU! That is why mastering Attraction Marketing is KEY to anyone’s success in Network Marketing. People could careless about your product or service. People want to do business with people they like, people that care, people that exude leadership. While the longevity of your success may have to do with the compensation plan, the product, the niche, etc…none of those things hinder you from attaining success. They say the key to real estate is location. Well, the key to network marketing is marketing (go figure). Learn how to market yourself without burdening your friends and family with tired sales tactics. Become the success you seek and success will seek you. Great post! To your success, cheers!

Hi Aisha,

No matter what obstacle get in your way while on this journey the bottom line is always you. I may have struggled for quite some time in the beginning because I didn’t have the right information or I didn’t know who could help me or I went into information overload but the end result is how we react to it. A quitter never wins and a winner never quits.

What people have to understand is that it’s how you react to these circumstances that’s going to either move you forward or stall you in your tracks. Blaming someone else never did anyone any good. Changing the way you think about things is the real key. Even if we aren’t aware of these thoughts, that’s when it’s great to get another opinion or even work with someone who can help you understand what’s really going on.

Thanks Aisha for sharing your thoughts with me.

Hope you’re enjoying your day!

Adrienne,

You are right, I think the thing that hold a lot of us back is we do not know what success looks like and things that we are not familiar with are scary to us. So we have a fear of success.

I know that is true for me. I have to overcome that fear. I think I need to add to my goals for this year the fears that I am going to conquer. I have just got to figure out what some of these things really look like and then I can do them.

I am going to succeed in 2012.

Thanks for a great video.

Hi Dee Ann,

You nailed it Dee Ann, we have a fear of what we don’t know. We all might say we want success but then I’ll hear stories from people who have come into a lot of money and then complain because it either changed them or the people around them. I know that with everything that I am that I will never change who I am as a person. Nothing can do that but I can see people coming out of the woodwork and giving you a hard time because they want you to share. I don’t know maybe subconsciously I’m thinking of those stories. I still never really pinpointed it but I did pinpoint not knowing what success is to me.

I honestly believe that this is the year a lot of my friends, including me, will break through all those barriers that have held us back until now. I know for a fact that the only reason we aren’t where we want to be is because of ourselves and nothing else. I have no doubt you’ll conquer those fears as well so we can all take back our lives.

Thanks Dee Ann for your wonderful message and let’s talk soon.

Adrienne,

I think we will all do it this year because we have each other and we are all so diverse. We will help each other along the way. I know I have never had the support system that I have now. It is a support system with a lot of breath so it is really solid.

This is going to be a good year because we are all going to make it one.

Thanks and we will talk soon.

These things inside of our minds, of course i agree Adrienne,!
excellent video by the way, i felt very connected with you. It was coming to my mind an example about how powerful is the mind:

You put a 1 meter, not very wide, piece of wood on the floor, and try to walk from beginning to end, no problem. Put the same wood in a 500 meters high , to cross 1 meter from point A to point B. I am sure you probably fall and will become an omelet, or will get blocked and will become like a computer sometimes, just because of the mind, and is the same wood, and distance to cross.

This happens to me probably when about making money, at the moment of truth, it gets so high the situation, that even though i have being crossing the wood so many times in my room, i feel like s***! in the real time and or fall or don´t wanna cross. Omelet or blocked computer, he,he!!

Is training the mind, convincing it to reach the point of these guys making this money in a mature easy way, maybe we should bring some of them in a video to help us, he,he.!!

Excellent to come to basics, here is the answer i believe!! BASICS.
Warmly,
Angel.

Thanks Angel, the mind is a very powerful thing…

I like that example of the wood and you are right. Under one circumstance it’s a piece of cake, under another not so much but it’s actually the same piece of wood.

We conjure up thoughts from time to time that hold us back in so many ways. Once we move through those thoughts and become like untouchable, there’s no stopping us. I believe we all have to go through that though before we can get to that point. I’m more than halfway there so it’s only a matter of time.

Back to the basics, well I’m not sure about that. I think it’s all about understanding your thoughts and from there it’s just up.

Thanks Angel! Enjoy your week..

You are so right Adrienne, too many people get into network marketing thinking that all they have to do is join whatever affiliate their wanting to promote and then get a whole lot of sub affiliates under them thinking they will do the work and make the money for them. Unfortunately the people they sigh under them are doing the same thing and all you get is a whole lot of people doing nothing, no-one makes any money and so they through their hands up in the air in disgust saying that network marketing is a whole lot of BS.

As to visualising, I’m like you I’m not good at visualising something I’ve never held in my hands or experienced before. Having said that I don’t believe you have to visualise something to make it happen. All you need is the will to get it done.

When you don’t have those seeds of doubt smashed for good or you don’t believe in yourself that you can have success, you will only attract those same types of people into your business. So like you said, they are thinking the same thoughts you are thinking and expecting everyone else to do the work for them. When that doesn’t happen they cry wolf! I think that’s a lot of the learning process and why everyone needs to work on themselves first. Get rid of those thoughts and your life will change once and for all.

I agree with you Sire, I can still have everything that I want without visualizing the outcome. I believe that can be accomplished through the feeling you get from having what you want. Like to me when I’m thinking of my life when I’m “finally there” I get all giddy inside and so very happy. Like I can feel all those feelings just boiling up so to speak. It’s that kind of feeling we have to keep in the forefront in order to reach our destination.

Thanks for sharing that with me. Although I wish everyone could visualize their life as they want it to be, it sure is nice to know I’m not alone not being able to accomplish that. Man, what a relief.

Hi Adrienne,

I love your video. You are so direct and frank. I love people like you, because I am very direct and frank too and sometimes some people want to make me feel bad for it :) I think that there are not enough people like that.

Yes, there is a lot of misconception about network marketing. There are also some companies that are better than others in this business, of course. I am saying this thinking of a company I had joined back in 2006 which said they were the best, so on and so forth, but they have now reached a point where it’s very difficult for a lot of people to make any commission. A friend of mine who have been with them all this time had to finally drop them a few month ago because of it.

Then, as you mentioned on your video there is the lack of belief mentality of some people who join network marketing, not knowing what success is and how it feels (We all have been like this at some point). In such case such people need to take some self development course, read books, listen to audios, etc… That’s what I had to do 6 years ago when I started the business.

Then, there are the ones who don’t want to do any work and make money. You can find those in affiliate marketing as well :) I had a client which I helped set up a few Wordpress blogs and wrote articles for which dropped all the sites in a matter of two months when he realized that it took either work or money to maintain his blogs.

It seems that when it comes to online business people think that there is no work involved. They couldn’t be more wrong a you and I know :)

Great job with your video, Adrienne. Keep up the good work

Hi Sylviane,

Ah, so glad to hear you loved my video. I am direct, yes indeed and sometimes too much. What I always tell my friends is if you want my honest opinion then ask me but just remember, I’m going to give you my honest opinion and the majority of the time you aren’t going to like my answer. But it’s just my opinion not the big guy’s word.

Oh there are companies that aren’t up to par just like some people’s beliefs. I think you’ll find that pretty much everywhere. Which is why we all need to start at the beginning and work on ourselves first. Now I started doing this four years ago when I first came online too. I believe that’s why we are all a work in progress because here I am four years later still realizing I’m not done with kicking all that crap to the curb.

There are some people who are all talk and no action and those are the ones who come into this industry, are all gun ho, start getting things up, they’re all excited about it and then once they realize the work that’s involved they bail.

Then you have those that are really like me beating their heads up against the wall because you are busting your butt to learn everything you can, you’re applying what you learn, you are seeing results but success still aludes you. Those that want this bad enough will continue to search for the answers. Those that don’t, won’t.

Thanks for sharing some of your experiences Sylviane, it’s good to hear what other people have gone through as well. Which is why pretty much anyone can make it in this industry because we are all different and some people will connect with me and then there are some people who will connect with you. Not any one person is alike so there’s room for everyone.

Hope you’ve enjoyed your day and thanks again for stopping by. Always a pleasure to see you. Hope you are making progress with those icons. :-)

Wow! You are soooo personable. I’m sure you hear that a lot :) Great message, and I personally appreciate your honesty!

I know almost all people get into this business with false promises of it being easy but quickly realize that they actually have to put some work in to see any kind of progress. It’s us who stick around that really have to hold that positive mind-set, because instant gratification is not (always) a common thing here.

I’m a hard worker, and I dedicate a lot of hours online. My obstacle has been fear – like Dee Ann was talking about. Fear to take that action that just might produce an outcome I want – because it may also NOT produce an outcome I want as well.

I’ve found in the past little while I’ve really been pushing past my fears and saying “Screw it! Whatever happens, happens – at least I tried!” I really believe that this pushing past my fears is going to lead myself into success this year.

I personally can picture (and feel) success for myself. I think that’s because I have a husband who also believes in having the right mind-set in order to achieve what you want in life. In fact, we both believe in the universe and our connection to it and how powerful the right mind-set really is. And we both have the same vision when it comes to success. :) So we encourage each other and support each other, and we visualize and discuss what our lives are going to be like successful and feel as if we are living it right now. We also appreciate the present – ah, but like you said…I could ramble on forever with this!

Looking forward to more!

Ah thanks Kari, I’ll definitely take that compliment. :-) Yeah, I do get that a lot, I do have a very big personality too. Guess you can probably tell by my smile and my laugh. I’m also very honest, there’s really no other way to be. I certainly can’t be comfortable claiming to be something I’m not.

Me, me, me… I was lured into this industry with false promises and what a rude awakening. But like you said, as soon as some of us figure this whole thing out and know there’s work involved that really didn’t scare me away. Heck, I love work and I definitely love to learn. I may not be the quickest student who picks this stuff up but I’ll get there eventually.

I understand the fear aspect of it. I kept hearing you have to be a leader and I was scared to death because I was afraid I would let people down. One of the reasons I wanted to shoot this video is because a lot of you who have seen the steady increas in my blog traffic and all the comments I get instantly think she’s successful. So your view of success and mine are different because there are still areas I’m working through and I wanted everyone to know you’re not alone.

Sounds like you get like me at times when you are to the point that you have to say screw it. I’m tired of being scared, I’m tired of not pushing toward the unknown and uncomfortable because that’s the only way we’ll ever get to the other side.

I’m so happy to hear that you have such a supportive husband that thinks the same way you do. I have no doubt that even with just his success and the support you get online that you will reach your breakthrough point this year too.

Ramble on my friend, ramble on. :-)

Thanks Kari, I appreciate your honesty. That’s what I’m talking about.

Funny you are talking about this – I realized this weekend that some of my actions and results are because of what I am not sure – but it seems like I have been punishing myself and that is why what is currently going on with me is. It doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me, but I believe that is what is happening. I have been punishing myself for a long time and it only gets me further in the hole.

I’ll tell ya it sure was an eye opener – and it was such a great joy writing my last ebook at the spur of the moment. I have always been pretty good at doing those type of things at the last minute and making myself proud. Probably seems kinda weird, but it is what motivates me, I guess? Not sure.

It is really a shocker when you are able to figure things out like that – I have been praying and praying and praying and still am in hopes to get this current matter resolved without further problems, but since I realized this I am SMILING AGAIN!! WOOHOO! You know how long it has been that I have not smiled? That is sad!!

I can certainly relate to everything you are saying from the very beginning with those people claiming everything is a scam – my parents are great at telling me things like that, well not anymore, but they used to be like that. Used to really tick me off and I went out and did well with those companies. But, like everything else I have been involved with, it had to come to an end because of this or that, but I am still here and still trying!

I also believe your thoughts about not being able to see what success is – but I DO Know what it is, I can see it, now I just gotta DO IT!!!

I really enjoyed your video and looking for more great ones from you very soon, Adrienne.

Keep the faith and you will do GREAT!

I think this is the right topic to pursue going into this new year. Let us all get rid of the baggage once and for all so we can all move forward. I’m SO happy you finally had your aha moment Linda. You are a worker and I see that in you but I’ve always known it’s your thoughts that are holding you back. You just need to get all of that in order and girl you won’t know what hit you. I can just see it now.

I’m so happy you had a great time writing the eBook and got it done so quickly and everything is up and in place. I know what you mean when you say it’s a proud moment.

If you keep the faith and know that everything will work itself out with your current situation then it can all turn around on a dime. Circumstances change, they may see there’s no need in pursuing this, anything can happen. You just have to keep the faith and stop with the why me crap. Trust me, I’ve done that to myself too so I know exactly how that feels.

I say you just head right towards success Linda. I have no doubt you’ll reach it. You do have that drive and determination plus you just got your happy back. :-)

Glad you enjoyed the video and the message. Stay tuned for more this year girl.

I’m keeing the faith and hope you’ll do the same.

Adrienne, you continue to INSPIRE me! What a powerful video. You truly rang my bell!

You truly did call it like it is in regards to the lazy and the action-takers who are stuck in the mud. The deeper and deeper that we get into our businesses, the more see the truth that EVERYTHING is in the mindset.

Clarity is the point where we need to begin always. Without clarity there is confusion…and a confused mind takes no decisive action. Decisive is the operative word. Till be can be decisive on what it is we want, we continue to dawdle. If we put all our effort in but don’t have direction, we dawdle ourselves into exhaustion!

I am loving all this great motivation and no-nonsense clarity from you, Adrienne!

I’ve always been someone who is going to tell you like it is. You either like me for it or you don’t. Either way, that’s just the way it is. I just get so tired of people telling me that this just doesn’t work when they haven’t done the work. Or like I mentioned here, you are someone like me who kicks some serious butt with the work but aren’t see the desired results. Either way you need to step back and have a very serious talk with yourself because that’s when it should hit you that there is something else going on here. It’s up to you to figure out what that is.

Well, you’ll see more of that from me this year Cat. I’m in this for the long haul and I’m not going away any time soon.

As always, I really appreciate your truthful comments. I don’t like sugar coating myself, just give me your honest opinion. Whether we agree or not, I want to hear it. I can always count on you.

SO glad you like my hair because girl, I have a LOT of bad hair days. Seriously!!! Guess that’s why I don’t get in front of the camera more often. :-)

Hi, Adrienne,

Thank you for being spot on about this MINDSET challenge that many people do not even know that it exist. I have come across many people who say they are to do one thing but failed to actually do the thing. They do not even know that it is the subconscious mind that is having conflicting ideas with reality.

This is why Personal Development training is such huge part of MLM Training. It is only when the conscious and the subconscious minds are in alignment that we can focus our time and energy into the tasks that we need to do.

I am not a person who can visualize the ‘picture’ of being successful. I agree with Janet Callaway that we need not be to caught up in the concern. Instead, FEEL the kind of lifestyle that we would be in when we are free to choose how we are going to spend our days.

I like your honesty. You are giving people hope…. Yes, it is quite a common concern. I am glad that you started with this one, Adrienne.

Hi Viola,

Glad you agree Viola because I know that this is what holds a lot of people back. But like in my case, I have done a lot of work on my mindset but obviously not enough because I still hadn’t broken through some old confusing thoughts. I just want people to be aware that when you’re doing the work and busting their butts, don’t give up because you aren’t seeing results. Stop, step back and have a serious talk with yourself. Ask yourself why you think that is. Go through the motions of your thoughts because if you’re really honest with yourself, you’ll come up with some fairly soon.

Personal development is extremely important period and I never really knew this until I entered this industry. So for those venturing into network marketing they really need to start here first or they will definitely fail. Whether they recruit people or not, they will only be bringing into their business those people with the same mindset they have and yes, those people will either not do the work or just quit. So the end result will be failure.

Thank you for sharing this with me today. Glad you like my honesty, I don’t know how else to be and I don’t always claim to know it all but I can just share my own experiences and hope that it will help others.

Have a beautiful day Viola!

I agree completely, Viola. Well said!

Let go of worry, visualize if you can and it feels good. If not…

… FEEL the lifestyle.

HI Adrienne,
I thought the message and video were great, but I kept looking for the Network Marketing misconception.
I’m guessing you got going and the direction of your video changed. All in all powerful message.
Thanks for the video

Hey Dave,

The misconception is your own mindset Dave. The way you think is what holds you back. My particular example was the success issue. That is the best way I’m able share with my readers is by using me as an example.

Hope that cleared it up.

Have a great day!

Hey Adrienne,

Great video, and its nice to see your personality injected into your blogging.

This is something I always pondered: What does success look like? How do I envision something I’ve never seen?

And I’m totally with you on this: mindset.

I always say with the right mindset, dreams can turn into reality. It’s our actions, our drive, our perseverance, that will create this success.

Failure is also important. Learning from our mistakes and turning a negative into a positive.

Without failure, we would never value or understand success.

Hi Paul,

Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

What I’ve learned through this process Paul and what has worked for me is although I can’t see it I still know what I want. I know I want to be able to come and go as I please. So think about yourself working away and a friend calls and asks you to drop everything and run off for a couple of days. Know that you can do that with no problem at all. Or you’re able to spend time with people you love whenever you want and you’re not chained to a desk. I can’t think about those as being my end result and that’s what I want. Does that make sense?

You are SO right, learning from our mistakes will always take us to that next level. Don’t beat ourselves up over it because we will make mistakes. That’s just part of the learning process.

Thanks for your comment and sure hope you enjoy your day!

By the way Shannon, you definitely need to get that gravatar set up. We would much rather see that smiling face of yours instead of those sad eyes.

Hey Adrienne,

Nice to see you doing a video post for a change, I think some people find this much easier than reading big long posts

Also you hit some great points in your video as well, a lot of want to be marketers fail because they never see results even when they’ve “tried” The problem is you won’t see results until you really try and that’s the harsh reality of it. If you want to be in the game, you have to know how to play the game!

Just on a side note, maybe for your future video posts, you might consider doing a short bullet list of the main points your making? As you know time is precious and I’m sure not everyone will always have time to watch your whole video, I find it much quicker to read posts instead of watching them personally. Also it could be handy for you to have a list of points so you know what you’re going to talk about next during the video, (but I’m sure you already do that)

All the best

Hi Rob,

Glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you meant it’s nice to see video posts with me just chatting because I do a lot of video tutorials. Some people get bored with the videos because they are faster readers. That’s why I won’t be doing every post with a video but I am going to get back in front of the camera more.

I don’t use the word “try”… I know that those doing the work and aren’t getting the results it’s because of some deeper underlying issues still going on. So “trying” to do the work is actually setting yourself up for failure which was the reason I shot this video message.

You are the first person who has mentioned this so I’m thinking this isn’t an issue with most. Personally, when I’m in front of the camera just talking I don’t write notes. I know the topic I want to share and I just talk. Guess that’s why I don’t do a lot of these videos Rob. But I’ll take the bullet points into consideration for future posts.

Thanks for your comment, really appreciate hearing your thoughts. You’ve given me something else to think about now.

“Some people get bored with the videos because they are faster readers.”

I’ve been there, Adrienne. I’m a speed reader and SO many videos ‘bore’ me (but my solution has always been to skip through and attract the bits that are most relevant to me.)

Quick note: It is totally possible (and FUN!) to create videos for people with fast-reading or low-attention spans.

I say this only because I know you’re talented and focused, Adrienne, and you can do anything you want. :D

You know I said that because I’m the same way. I’m not a speed reader but some people beat around the bush or go on and on and talk about stuff that I’m ready for them to get to the point so I lose interest.

Really? You know what my problem is Jason? I’m a talker… I’m that person that never runs out of things to say. I try not to do that too much in my videos because I don’t want people to lose interest. I might have to get some tips from you and then that will be yet another post my friend. Dang, this is fun.l

Thank you Jason, I really appreciate that! A man after my own heart. Watch out! :-)

Awesome stuff, Adrienne :)

I teach this stuff allll the time. Thoughts, feelings, and focus are humanities greatest tools. They’re the tools of success, and you really nailed it. Good for you, and thanks for sharing this.

I’m glad you’re passionate about it, it happens to everyone, myself included, but not everybody has the same understanding of it.

I’m an insane work-ethic person, I’m a ridiculous positive type, and I also had “no-results, failure” for a time (8 failed businesses, in 6 years – see: guest post over on FirepoleMarketing ;) ) – and you’re right, we are all in this together, we are doing it this year, TAKING THE WORLD BY STORM!

Ryze up!

(P.S. Love the Paul Wolfe shout-out.)

(P.P.S. You may not know what it looks like, but you know what it FEEELS like.)

Hey Jason, glad you liked my little video.

I have a feeling that your teachings are right on. I love learning how to improve my thinking and then implementing what I’ve learned is even more fun. I am very passionate about it as well as my journey because I had to hit a lot of bumps before I reached my destination.

Wow seriously! Dang, thank you so much for sharing that. I’ll definitely stop by tomorrow and read that post you wrote. I need to get off this computer but wanted to reply to your comment before I do. So I’ll definitely be by tomorrow to check that out.

We definitely are in this together and since I recently had such a huge breakthrough there is nothing stopping me now. I want everyone to come along for the ride. Of course I’ll be sharing everything in my posts so stay tuned for more “revelations” and “turning points” to come.

Yeah, Paul’s the man… He’ll be guest posting over here for me this month but right now he’s under the weather bless his heart. He’s got the Man Flu or so his wife calls it.

You are right and I’m realizing that more and more. I do know what it feels like so I had to stop beating myself up because I couldn’t see what it looked like. See, I’m still a work in progress.

By the way, go check out my Facebook Profile… I played around with Pixlr and created my cover photo. I’m very proud of myself but I can’t for the life of me understand why the photo of me and my mom are so blurry. It’s fine when I reduce the size of the photo in the program but when I save it it then becomes a little blurry. I love that photo so maybe you can tell me what I’m doing wrong Mr. Photo Genius!!! :-)

Thanks Jason and have a fabulous week okay. See you soon.

Awesome response, Adrienne :D

For more on this topic (and to further Paul’s FPM post) I recommend the book How To Make Money On YouTube by Schepp & Schepp (it’s a tiny bit old but nails almost everything and remains relevant.)

Stop beating oneself up sounds like Corbett Barr’s latest post “Let It Go” :D

As for the FB profile — OMG! You rocked it! It’s sexier than most of them on Facebook already. Well done miss.

To clarify (all dimensions in PIXELS):
-The large center image is Facebook’s “Cover” photo, and it has dimensions: 850wide x 315high.
-The image of you+mom, that you’ve placed inside the cover has dimensions: 133wide x 166high

Enlarging Can Be Tricky: My best guess as to why it’s blurry is because 133×166 is an ENLARGEMENT of how big the *original, unedited photo * of you+mom is.

If the original photo is smaller than 133×166 (say… 50×50), and you attempt to blow it up for your collage, it will become blurry. There are techniques around this if you want to chat :)

Hey Jason,

Thanks for those tips…

Seriously, I did good? I wanted to do something a little different and I used Brankica’s example of her cover wanting to put a little bit of everything about me or as much as you can you know.

I’ve got the right dimensions but actually I reduced the photo of me and Mom. It was an original 5×7 photo that I scanned and is very clear at that size. Once I started reducing it is when it got blurrier. It’s funny but as I shrink it is’t fine until I hit save. All hell breaks loose after that.

Thanks for the tips.

You rocked it :)

And from the sounds of it then, it’s probably pixlr’s ability to shrink from 5×7 (biiig) into 166×133, if you email me the photo I can shrink it pro-style in photoshop for you and send it back.

Welcome to my world Adrienne. Early last year I went through a stage where I started to wonder what it was I actually believed in anymore. I was running a business I was making money online, I had just had the best year ever financially (2010), but I still found myself doubting my future within this business.

It took me a while to find my focus, but most of all self confidence. I know it may sound strange to some people as I have been in the business for a long time but believing in myself and my ability was a major factor. I had so much negative energy I needed to find a way to become positive again and rebalance my life and business.

By finding out what I really wanted I was then able to channel my focus and rebuild my plan. I will be challenging myself this year, I know I have my focus back again and I know what I want to do. All negativity kicked to the curb, self believe and belief in this business is back.

Can I visualize success? I’m not going to spend the time thinking about it :-D I have work to do!

Great stuff Adrienne.

Hey Dan,

I understand what you’re talking about to an extent. I’ve always been a positive person, it goes back to living with a Dad who had cancer my entire life. Anyway, I came online and within two years was supporting myself financially. But I was hiding behind websites and not doing what I’m doing now.

Being in front so people get to know me and others looking to me as a leader scared the bigebies out of me. People were looking to me for answers and I just don’t have them all. I started to feel the pressure and it scared the hell out of me. I thought people would start to look down on me so my mind was filled with all this negative crap. It’s taken me awhile to start to learn how to be comfortable with this and at the same time that I can have the success. It never even entered my mind. All I wanted to do was make a comfortable living and now I’m realizing that there is way more to this then I ever imagined.

I really appreciate you sharing your story with me Dan. What I love about meeting so many bloggers is that I’m understanding that we are all human. I applaud and admire those, which means you my friend, that have found that success and have built a great business. Dang, you are so deserving of it but it helps to know you were in the same boat I was at one time. I think that’s how we are able to make those connections and it really helps to know that we aren’t alone in this.

You are on the right road now Dan and I’m right behind you now. Yey me… Finally but I think I had to go through all of this to truly “get it”. Looking back, I’m so glad I did. I appreciate the journey that much more.

Thanks Dan, always appreciate hearing from you. Have an awesome week.

Hi Adrienne,

Yes, I watched this video too and even if I am not used to watch videos I loved it because you are direct and honest with us.
Well, I am in the second category of people. I work hard and I have no problem to work hard because I always did like that in my life (my studies, my jobs, everything). But I am not so good as you in thinking positively. You have already noticed that and you mentioned it in one of my comments…I use a lot the word “try”.
Lately, I really work on that, I read a lot of books and blogs and I want to become more self-confident. I think, I am getting more and more positive and optimistic. I have recently written an article about that (“Am I the only optimistic Greek citizen?”) because sometimes I really feel like that…
Furthermore, I am a beginner and as you mention it is even harder for me to visualize the success. Of course, I don’t believe in one-night success stories but I guess that success in this field is having a blog like yours…for instance. I know why I want to succeed in this field: just because I am sick and tired of working for a big company, of being in a rat race, of not having the control in my business tasks and in people I work with and for…
Thank you for mentioning that you are here and open to help us…This is not obvious. Here in Greece information is not for free…People are afraid of helping others because they are afraid of losing their expertise…or I don’t why what else they are afraid of. The point is that they aren’t ready to share and they don’t do it!

Thank you for the video. Have a nice day :)

Hi Lenia,

Glad you enjoyed the video and yes, I’m pretty direct.

I hope you don’t mind me calling you out when I see you writing negative remarks and the would “try” is negative in my vocabulary. Here is a little piece of advice that you may find helpful.

Do you believe in yourself? How bad do you want to have a better life for you and your family? When success to you finally arrives, what will that do for you? Will that mean you have the freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want and with whoever you want? Or does that mean a big house, a fancy car and expensive clothes? Find out what your why is which means why are you doing this, why are you online and that drive and determinatin will get you through.

Always know that there are people here to support you through your endeavors and I’m one of them. There is enough room for everyone here. Not everyone will connect to everyone, we are all different. So those who are similiar to you will connect with you where they won’t connect with me. That’s just the way it is.

Maybe you can be that person who is different in your country and show them that you can give freely. You can help them learn and grow and just think of all the people who will want to work with you! I can see it now. :-)

Thanks for sharing that Lenia, I think it’s good to know that we are not alone in our thinking and our work ethic. So I say let’s move through all the garbage and get to work shall we!

Have a beautiful day okay! See you again soon.

Hi Adrienne,

I am glad to have your remarks about negative vocabulary. You are a great reminder and I learn from this process. So please, keep on!
And, Yes I believe in myself and as you mention I really really want to have a better life, to go for my dreams…Most important thing to me is the health. If we are healthy we can do anything, work hard and succeed in anything.
Reading your questions, I feel really lucky because this is a challenge for me. I know the answers and the meaning of what I do but sometimes I forget them. You are here to help me and remind me by asking the good questions. That is great and I thank you for that.

Your support counts a lot to me…and YES it is really good to feel that we are not alone in our thinking :)

Thanks and see you!

Wow! You were talking to me big time. I struggle with that myself and I have been going through some soul searching for a while now. What I liked about this is that I was always afraid of success or even completing something I started. Most times I would get excited to start something to only give up when I was almost done. How crazy is that? The comforting part is I know I am not alone on this and it took me a long time before a light bulb went off in my head saying,”what the hell is wrong with you girl?”.

My best achievement to this day is being a born again christian and even though I am not fanatical about it like others, I am still proud of it. It was the breakthrough in my life in facing my own personal demons to be a better person. After that, I had to work on other areas of my life that started to come into place as time went by. Looking back, those accomplishments for me is my success, but where I still struggled is if I can do other stuff I was passionate about. I think for myself it was time that helped me get through allot of issues in my life. Do I still struggle? Sometimes, but that’s only if I “choose” to struggle.

Changing how I think about myself and what I can do to help others helped me get through allot of bad self talk that I use to do daily. It still happens every once in a while, but when I get a comment about something I helped someone with that gave them the information they needed, then I see how it was all worth it.

Thanks Adrienne for this video. It was timely and needed. I think we all struggle no matter who admits it or not.

Dang girl, you too! Jeez… Isn’t it nice to know you are not alone? As you heard me say in my video, once I realized it and stopped beating myself up over it I just let it go. I can’t tell you what a relief that was but then again, you already know too.

I’m happy to hear that you came back around to Christ and that he has helped you through a lot of your past difficulties. I guess I just never relied on him a lot in the past, not really sure why but he’s always been there. He’s definitely helped me through a lot I can guarantee that. I’m so happy to hear that he’s done the same for you.

We will all still struggle from time to time but like you said, it’s good to know that when you hear that you’ve helped someone it’s all worth it.

We’ve all learned some very valuable lessons while here so I have no doubt that we are all on our way up. Thanks for sharing this with me Sonia, it’s great to just know others can relate.

Have a beautiful day!

I’m finally back, glad I could come in on such an interesting discussion. I did some network marketing in college and it really teaches you some worth while skills. It’s hard and like almost any other job, there are a lot of people who don’t make it.

I commend you for sticking to it and if anyone could be successful at it, it would be you.

Hey Adrienne,

This is the first video post I have seen of yours and how totally am in love with it!

I would agree with the points which you have mentioned! Though I used to be lazy (yes, you told us lazy souls to get out :( but then I realized that I am the one who can actually get things done if I want to see just that! I did get up and start going but sometimes the lazy girl in me warns to get the better of me.

There are many things which might not be working for us. But we need to understand what’s not working for us and to get it all working and best of all, having someone, like you, who are always ready to help!

Thanks again! You are awesome!

You are right, when we have problems just ask for help and get us over that hurdle. There are plenty of people who are willing to help you succeed and I’m just one of many I’m sure.

Hi Adrienne,

I haven’t been involved in network marketing, but I believe that what you’re saying is very important and true in any type of business really. There are a lot of lazy people, and people who think everything is very easy and if it’s not happening over night, it’s something wrong with the business and not with how (little) they work.

I have experienced a lot of changes during 2011 myself, and it’s all because I don’t give up and just keep working hard at what I’m passionate about. Keep helping people the way you do and 2012 will be even more successful for you.

Thanks a lot for sharing your powerful message Adrienne.

I believe the message really can be related to your personal or professional life. Anytime your want something bad enough yet aren’t getting the desired results there has to be a deeper reason why. It’s just putting a finger on it sometimes that’s hard.

Hi Adrienne,

I love the way you tell it as it is and told the “scammer brigade” to get lost right at the start…. I’ll have to try that one ;)

You’re absolutely right in what you say Adrienne. It is about getting the mindset right and staying positive to see things through. Not only in network marketing but in pretty much everything we try and do in life. Even riding a bike, if you start thinking of falling off you’ll fall off.

Now that you’ve brought the conversation up I can so relate to it. I can’t picture success as I haven’t found the level i want to reach. Oh sure my blogging has become successful but my income?…. Not yet and to be honest I do have a little fear there, can i reach the level of income to give my family what they’ve missed out on over the years because of my condition/situation and it is a scary thought. On one shoulder sits a fella saying “What if I balls it up and we go backwards?” and it does play on my mind sometimes, but you know what? I keep pushing myself anyway because i know that i want it that badly and have learnt so that the man on the other shoulder is saying “pull your socks up and go for it ya mug, cowards stay cowards forever”.

Hey Barry,

Well, I was just feeling it and it makes me so mad. I hate talking to people about my business and I get hit with that crap. I mean seriously! Are you that lazy or negative that you can’t even get a good feeling when someone is genuinely telling you the truth?

Ah Barry, so glad you could relate too. What I have learned to do is stay in the present moment and if I start hearing any negative thoughts boiling up I nip those in the butt right then and there. I wouldn’t allow them to remain, I think of something else to clear my mind. I do know what you mean though. I was talking to my Mom about this just last night. The fear of making it, I mean can you even imagine? I’ve gotten over that though finally which is why I’m barreling through this year so hope everyone is ready to come along for the ride! :-)

Thanks Barry, really appreciate you sharing that with me. Means a lot to bare your soul.

Enjoy your evening…

Re: Fear of making it…

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel unsure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. As we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others” – Marianne Williamson.

Absolutely f***ing beautiful quote.

If that quote is your thing, as is positivity and thought-management…

I’d love it if you’d give me Free 10-part Success e-Course a shot. It’s the pure distillation of tons of my experiences and wisdom, and it gets people on track and on fire ;)

It’s gotten rave reviews like this:
“For the first time, I can honestly say I am truly living. Thank you Jay for empowering me to live the life I have imagined.”

And I really feel it would help you on your rockin’ success-path, Adrienne. It addresses deep, powerful concepts most people either gloss over, or over complicate, and it does it with my standard sexy-style.

How much time is involved to go through it Jason? I’m always open to things that will benefit me but I have a full plate for the remainder of this month and am even behind on a few things. Having the time to go through it will be the kicker. It sounds great though and of course I can always write a review when I’m done…

Thanks for the share.

It’s about 3-10min a day depending on how passionate you are and how fast you read.

For you, I’d guess 3.5min a day.

Thanks Jason, I’ll look into it. I’m in the middle of a project I have to finish so it would be probably next week at the earliest that I could even look at it.

lol, no pressure Adrienne! I hope it didn’t come off as an obligation or committment, omg lol.

Every suggestion I’ve made here is because I feel it will help YOU.

For something to help you, you have to be comfortable and ready for it, and not pressured into something.

You’ll know if it’s right for you to look at, and you’ll know when :)

I’m not asking for time or commitment, I’m *recommending* something that could help you, the same way I recommended photoshop tutorials.

I’m about success, wisdom, and style. I am fantastic at it, I deliver, and I’m not shy about it.

Lots of love :D

No Jason, it sounds like a fabulous course I would benefit from. I just didn’t want to say yes I’ll do it and then not put the time aside to go through it. I love your suggestions and I don’t mind you sharing your links. If it can benefit me or my readers I’m all for it. If people are just spamming to get links, now that’s another story in itself. :-)

By the way, I put the photo up on my Facebook Cover so check it out. I’ll also send you a message so sorry I haven’t gotten to your friend request. Busy, busy, busy…

Have a great day Jason and thanks again for ALL your help.

HOLY COW,
i was rolling when you said “scurry away”.

What you said about NOT being able to visualize what success looks like is so spot on. I’ve been working through my goals using a system where i have to go through a series of questions to set my goal. one of those questions is “how will i measure it” in other words, how will i know when my goal is complete, when i’ve succeeded. I found i was really struggling with this idea for my blog and my upcoming products. Is it commentors? Is it total visitors per day? Is it tweets. Is it money? or some other combination. It really made me think but it helped to do that and i highly recommend putting the time into figuring that question out. I feel so much better about my goals now that i know how to measure success for ME. Anyways, loved the video. Saves me from reading in bed. I can just listen…

I knew I was being rather blunt there Annie and although I didn’t really want to piss anyone off, at the same time I just don’t have time for those people to be honest with you. As you can tell, I’m a very giving person but people can drain your energy and personally, I don’t have time for them. :-)

That sounds like a great exercise to go through Annie. I know what you mean because when I started my journey I really to be honest, wasn’t sure where I was heading. I had no idea there was so much stuff involved so I didn’t know what the end result even looked like. I definitely have a much better understanding now after I got so pissed off about it. I guess that’s what I needed and you are right, that needs to be clear for everyone. If not they’ll find themselves exactly where we both were.

Glad I could entertain you today in a little different way. Back to text in tomorrow’s post I’m afraid!

Have a great weekend Annie and thanks for stopping by.

Good for you Adrienne, a mark of the successful is their ability to aim and direct their energies where they are most being called, not just to ‘vampires’ ;)

I’ve written a ton about ‘draining relationships’, ‘unbalanced relationships’, and how to solve them / re-create them. I’m holding off posting a link ’cause I almost feel like I’m spamming the thread :P

Hi there Adrienne,
The concept of network marketing is a fantastic way to earn a living if you are with the right company with the right product(s). Network Marketing is even taught in some universities. Network Marketing has gotten a bad rap in the past but the concept is powerful. One thing I must say is that just too, too many people think Network Marking to be like a pyramid scheme. IT IS NOT! People should really get to no what Network Marketing is before they pass judgement.

Hey Terry,

I heard you had a lot going on toward the end of the year and I hope things are better for you now. You had a lot on your plate but good to see you again.

Ignorance will get them every time don’t you agree? I mean seriously. Do your research before you start making accusations, nothing makes me madder. It’s a great medium for making a residual income so I say don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

Thanks Terry and hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Okay, I’ve taken some time off to get some understanding on this. I keep reading so much about network marketing. I am new to the concept and finding it a bit confusing as to what one does. I will keep reading and hopefully learn about it.

Really Eddie? You aren’t familiar with network marketing? Okay to sum this all up for you in a nutshell it’s a company much like affiliate marketing, that has a product or service that you promote. The commission structure varies on what the product or service is. You sign people up on your team and then not only do you make money from the products you promote, but you make commissions from your teams members as well. Once again, all pay plans are different so it will depend on the particular company that you join.

What’s great about network marketing is that say two years down the road as you have really grown your team, you continue to make money from their efforts and you can stop growing your team. Continue to train new team members to do the work and they show their team and so on and so on. Unlike affiliate marketing, you can actually stop building your team and continue to make money which is why a lot of people enjoy the residual income that will continue to come for years.

Make sense? Oh by the way, great to see you…

Hi Adrienne
Loved the video, that is the first video of yours I have watched. It did feel like you were talking directly to me which is good, makes it a lot more personal and relaxed. I love your laid back approach too, very down to earth. Can’t wait to see more.

I hope you don’t mind but I was hoping to ask you a question and unfortunately it might come across as a bit of a stupid one. You talk about how you are going to get into network marketing this year but to be honest I get confused about all of the different types of marketing that you see online. There is Internet marketing, content marketing, network marketing, MLM (whatever that is, I always thought it was network marketing as well?). Is there any way you could quickly give me an overview of what each of these mean? I know I could simply Google it but I am sure that would just confuse me even more. You say it like it is, no waffle and I like that. I realise you are busy so understand you might not have time but if you do have a spare minute for a quick overview I would really appreciate it.
I look forward to reading and watching more of your amazing content.
You totally inspire me.
Cheers

Hi Thea,

Well I guess with this being the first one on one you’ve seen me do this was as good a subject as ever to begin with. Glad you enjoyed it and got the feeling that I was speaking just to you. I accomplished what I set out to do.

Sure, no problem Thea… I’ll try to make each definition brief and not confuse you.

Internet marketing is “how” you market on the internet. So you have a blog and you want to promote your product or service. You need for people to see your blog so you use different methods of marketing to achieve this. This is where the term internet marketing comes into play.

Content marketing is what you share. It can come in the form of the written word like on your blog or an article. Content marketing is changing all the time and you want to tell more of a story and be more personal. My really great friend Ruth is a copywriter and is writing a lot more about content marketing over at her blog. Drop by and she does a fabulous explanation of content marketing.

Network marketing (also known as MLM or multi-level marketing) is when you join a company for a fee and promote their products. Not all are the same so their compensation plans and their rules are different. Basically you build a team under you and not only do you make a commission from what you sell but you also make a commission from what your teams sells. Over time you can build up a great residual income and not even have to build your own team any longer. You have a great team underneath you that will continue to do the work for you.

Did that help you understand a little better? I’m sure I can go into more depth but don’t want to make this a mini-post.

Thanks Thea…

Have a great day!

Hi Adrienne

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that to me and yes it definitely did help clear things up for me.

I will definitely head over to Ruth’s blog for more information on content marketing.

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it. I look forward to enjoying more of your videos, not to mention your fabulous writing and insight, as the year progresses.
Have a wonderful day!

Hi Thea,

My pleasure and I’m glad you understand it a little better now. I know that this can all be quite confusing.

Ruth recently wrote a fabulous post explaining why content marketing is so crucial and how to properly go about this. Plus, she’s going to grace my readers with her presence next month with a guest post on this very topic. She’s the Queen of Copywriting or so I’ve dubbed her with that title.

My pleasure and glad I can help. I’m happy that you like my videos and I’ll have more to come as the year progresses so stay tuned. I so love hearing that you enjoy my writing since you are the writer my friend, not me. Okay, don’t slap me for saying that but I think a lot of us bloggers never considered ourselves writers so we just are sharing our feelings and what we’ve learned. Maybe some day that title will stick more with me. :-)

Have a wonderful day and a really great weekend okay! Speak again soon.

Hi Adrienne,

Wow! What you have said here is true! I have done same mistakes that you have mention in the video. Well I know I will not do the same mistakes this year! Thanks for this. I’m new here in you site and I found it very useful. I can say that I will be now one of your follower :)

Hi Katie,

I think a lot of us have made these mistakes, it’s part of the growing process. As long as we learn from them then we can continue to grow as the person we want to become.

Glad you got something from my video and welcome to my site. Hope you’ll find some of what I share helpful.

Have a great day Katie..

P.S. By the way, I normally will not approve a comment that links to a product or service but you seem like someone I’d like to get to know and possibly help. So I will remove your link when you comment so the next time, please link to your blog. That’s the only way people will get to know who you are. Okay!
