My Facebook Rant of the Month!

My Facebook Rant of the Month!I love Facebook!  It took me a long time to learn how to use the service but once I did, I was hooked.  Over time my friend list has continued to grow and I have met some really awesome people through this site.  Have even reconnected with some friends I haven’t heard from in years.

But it also has a lot to be desired.  As of yesterday, my profile was officially switched over to the new layout and I’m not happy with it at all!  I have yet to speak with one person who is happy with the change.

Which is the main reason for my rant today although I have several other issues with them as well.  Let’s face it.  It’s pretty obvious to me that the people Mark Zuckerberg has hired to work for him are total computer geeks.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing computer geeks at all because where in the world would we be without them.  They are some really smart people.  But they lack a lot when it comes to creating a user friendly environment.  Or, I could be totally wrong and they really believe this is the new and improved user friendly environment!  Who knows!!!

I heard the recent interview when Mark addressed the reasons for this change.  I also heard a lot of opinions on what he said and everyone I spoke with agreed that he’s the least social person on this earth.  Whoever he has advising him regarding this is an idiot.  Need I say more!!!  Why don’t they consider asking the people who use Facebook the most instead of relying on their computer programming department to reorganize the entire site.

And what about the Facebook ads section!  Anyone who has tried to run ads using their service will know exactly what I’m talking about.  Even if your ads fall within their guidelines, they will still not approve them.  I think the guys that sit behind those desks looking at ads just get out of bed each morning pissed off.  Your ad will seldom get approved the first ten times you submit it.  If you don’t have any patience, I would advise you to not even try.  The key is to resubmit it over and over and over again until they finally approve it.  It boggles my mind since this is how they are making their killing!!!  What’s up with that!

I know I’m not the only person who is frustrated and unhappy with this change.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m up for change.  Without it we would all be stuck in the 1960′s without any of the luxuries we are now so accustomed to.  But let’s make changes for the better instead of the worse.  I would think that they would want to keep their 500 million users happy instead of pissing everyone off all the time.

They need to also really reconsider their privacy issues.  I know this has been a huge issue with many as it should be.  I also know that they notify us every time they have some type of change or update but let’s face it.  It’s some tiny little notice at the top of  your page that the majority of people don’t even pay attention to because it’s so small.  I believe they should send every single person an email to the address they registered their account with notifying them when they have these major types of changes.  Trying to keep it quite does no one any good.

Okay, that’s it for now.  I’m done with my ranting.  Sorry you had to read this instead of some helpful, useful and valuable information you can use.  I have my moments too and I just really needed to get this off my chest.  I feel better now.

If you want to share your concerns with me, leave me a comment.  Hey, we all have our own opinions and I’m always open to hearing others as well.  Until then, have an awesome day!

Haha, when they first changed my account to that new profile, I was utterly disappointed with the mess they’ve created. But after a couple of weeks, I got used to it, and I find it ok.
I’m not saying its better than the older one, I’m just saying that it doesn’t feel that bad anymore to me

Hey Amr, thanks for the comment my friend. I know that things change and we have to get use to it but I just don’t think it’s very user friendly. Like why are the photos across the top from other people. You can’t even display your own photos. What’s up with that? And the top friends, you can’t change them or rearrange them. Just a few things I just don’t like. I won’t bore you with more… I did my rant and I’ll get over it!

Appreciate your comment, I’ll get use to it eventually myself. Hope you’ve had a great weekend.

Hey Lisa,

I’m SO happy to hear that someone else thinks the same way I do… Okay, I know one person and she voices her opinion with me on a regular basis. They just need their site more user friendly and who better to give them that advice than an organized woman!!! LOL!!!

Thanks Lisa.

What’s really amazing is the ads that actually do get published- especially the former fake ones that were using people’s profile pictures in their advertisements. Who approves them in the first place? Considering that it’s the biggest site out there currently, you’d think they’d be more up on fixing the problems we ALL complain about. (You’re not alone.) I realize Zuckerberg is young and a genius, but when will the common sense kick in?

Hey Val,

From what I understand, most of the ads take about 10 times submitting them before they even get published. I guess as long as Facebook is making money, they are happy. But you are right about the common sense kicking in… I know that is a lot of the problem in the “corporate world”. No one seems to have much common sense these days!

Thanks for the comment and I appreciate you stopping by.
