I hope you’ve found some useful information in my previous posts on how to get free traffic to your website. In today’s post I’m going to share with you another method I use.

Method #4 is using Social Media Marketing:

Although method #3, Social Network Marketing, will bring traffic to your website it won’t help you interact with your followers. We all know how important it is to build a relationship with others in this industry.

In order to accomplish that you need to turn your efforts to social media marketing. Instead of just broadcasting your message out into the world, using social media sites will give you the ability to interact with your newly acquired friends and connect with them on a more personal level.

In these types of communities, when you have a conversation with one person it is seen by anyone else who is following you. There are a lot of people who are just curious to know what others are saying so they can easily ease drop on other people’s conversations. It can literally be seen by hundreds if not thousands of people.

Joining blog communities are a great way to build a following around your site. The only thing that is required is to visit these sites, create a community around your site and then paste the code they provide you on your site so that their community widget is displayed. Some blog communities you may want to visit are:

  • MyBlogLog
  • BlogCatalog
  • BUMPzee!
  • Spicy Page

This is a great way to build a following around your site but people must either visit your site or blog community itself in order to find your information. It’s really a great way to build a following but in my next post I will share with you another method that is extremely helpful when participating on these types of sites.

Stay tuned…

It is so much better to engage to your targeted users and interact with them rather than just broadcasting your message. Interacting and making conversations with them would give them the idea that you’re helping them out rather than promoting your site.

Adrienne,

Is social media marketing also using facebook, twitter, etc. to engage with people? Please correct me on this :) I agree that this type of marketing is essential to any business as it builds relationship with others and potential clients.

Hey Lisa,

Yes, social media marketing does include sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc. but what most people don’t understand is that these sites are all about building relationships. It’s not about promoting your products which is why so many people continue to fail. People purchase things from people they know, like and trust so if you just interact a little with people you meet online, that will give you a better sense of whether your product is right for them. Then you introduce the product to them. Spamming your wall or your twitter feed with your links will only prove to everyone that you are only here for yourself. It’s the quickest way to killing your business. :-)

Hope that helped.
