I hope you’ve found some useful information in my previous posts on how to get free traffic to your website. In today’s post I’m going to share with you another method I use.
Method #3 is using Social Network Marketing:
Social network marketing is very popular and Google loves these sites. Not to confuse it with social media marketing where you are interacting with others on a more social level. When speaking of social network marketing, I’m specifically talking about Web 2.0 sites.
The term “Web 2.0″ is commonly associated with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, on the World Wide Web. A Web 2.0 site allows its users to interact with other users or to change website content, in contrast to non-interactive websites where users are limited to the passive viewing of information that is provided to them.
A few Web 2.0 sites that you may be familiar with are:
- Squidoo
- Hubpages
- WordPress.com
- tumblr
- Blogger
- Weebly
- Zimbio
- Live Journal
- instablogs
- Blogsome
- Vox
- Wetpaint (a wiki site)
- Wikispaces (a wiki site)
- Xanga
- Ning
There are so many different Web 2.0 sites online today that will let you put your content and links up in order to drive traffic back to your site.
You also have social bookmarking which is a method for Internet users to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web resources. Unlike file sharing, the resources themselves aren’t shared, merely bookmarks that reference them. There are literally hundreds of social bookmarking sites but the most popular ones are:
- Digg
- del.icio.us
- Simpy
- Furl
The easiest way to bookmark sites is to use a service such as Social Marker that will bookmark several sites at once. You also have the option of choosing individual sites but you definitely want to choose the sites that have “do follow” links.
A “do follow” link is a link that Google will follow, that Google will pass page ranks from toward your site. It’s definitely a good idea to submit your content, your articles, your Web 2.0 pages, your landing pages, any content you have created to these types of sites. It won’t bring you a huge amount of traffic, page rank or authority because of it but every little bit does count and over time it will have an impact.
Hope this information has been helpful. Stay tuned for more ways to get free traffic to your website.

Hey Bob,
Thanks for mentioning that, I really appreciate it. When I learn, I share so I do like to make it as easy as possible for you to follow and understand.
I haven’t written anything over at Hugpages in awhile now. I bailed on Squidoo sometime back because at that time I was promoting some affiliate products and they decided to no longer accepts lenses on those topics. There went my strategy for that. Oh well, on to the next thing.
Thanks Bob, always a pleasure to see you.
I thought that social media and social network marketing are just the same. I really had no idea about web 2.0 sites until I read your post. A must read for everyone who is into online marketing. Thanks Adrienne! Your works are incredible!
