How to Disable Facebook’s New Privacy Setting

by Adrienne Smith on January 12, 2011

in Facebook

Facebook is always changing something and updating us as these changes take place. But we don’t always understand them or we either don’t have time to deal with them at the moment.

Recently Facebook changed their privacy settings again to include what they call “Instant Personalization” where they are freely giving sites they partner with free access to your personal information when you or a friend visits those sites. To find out more about these settings, watch this video.

Hope you find this helpful!

Every time I fix my settings, there seems to be another cause to change them. It’s so hard to keep your information to yourself, for the privacy of yourself! Wouldn’t you think it was illegal to share such information? I would think it was an invasion of privacy- and possible security risk.

I do the same thing Sam. I guess because they send out their notice that policies are changing that everyone actually pays attention to those. Like we would understand what all that stuff means anyway! At least some of that has flown over my head from time to time. Personally, I don’t care how they are handling some of these privacy issues but I guess that’s the price we have to pay in order to keep our profiles.

Thanks for your input and appreciate you stopping by.

It’s easy Adrienne. Good visual and audio. But we’re not really sure if we still have privacy on facebook even if we disable this one. Who knows what’s on their minds right? :)

Hey Bob,

Well, once you change your privacy settings so that they do not have permission to share your information, whatever they do from that moment on I would say is against the law. Now I do know if you have some apps you’ve downloaded, that may give people access to your information. Which is why I don’t download apps. :-)
