I thought that in this post I would just share some cool tools that I think you may find useful. Some of these I use while others have been introduced to me by friends. So, take a look at these and see if they might benefit you in some small way.
Have you ever gone to a social networking site to sign up with your name only to find that it’s already taken? Sure, we know that your name may be kind of common but even if it is a little different, wouldn’t it be cool if there was a service that would let you grab your name before anyone else had the chance?
That is what KnowEm does. Now this service isn’t free I’m afraid , but it is the only one on this list that isn’t which is why I thought I would get it out of the way first. If this is something you have considered at one time, it certainly can’t help to take a look.
Social Mention
See what people are saying about you and/or your company? You can use this amazing tool to find out everything.
You can set up alerts like Google but for social media. You can receive free daily email alerts of your brand, company, CEO, marketing campaign or on a developing news story, a competitor or the latest on a celebrity. You can also get a widget for your blog or site.
Ever see the link at the bottom of a blog post that has all the related posts that you may be interested in reading? And those posts have their images beside the title! Wonder how they did that? With LinkWithin you can add image-based related posts to your blog. Also helps for interlinking your posts as well.
Ever heard of Jing? It’s a free screen capture software put out by the same people who created Camtasia. Screenr is similar to Jing but you can instantly Tweet your video as soon as you are done. This is another really cool tool. It’s free and you don’t need to download any software to your computer!
Not too long ago I was on someone’s site and I just loved their font. I wanted to use that same font for my site but had no idea what it was. Well now you can find out pretty easily. Just take a screen capture of the text that you like, upload it to this site and it will tell you what font it is so you can find it and use it on your own site. Pretty neat right!
Keyword research is so important when you want to start a new campaign or even buy a domain name with the same keywords. Now there is a tool that will allow you to enter the keywords you are interested in and you will receive a list of available domain names that contain those keywords. Pretty neat and this can really help if you are heavily into SEO.
Ever think about becoming a guest blogger? Not quite sure how to go about finding blogs that will allow you to contribute content? MyBlogGuest is the site where bloggers come together to work out guest blogging arrangements.
I added this tool at the end because although it’s a pretty neat little invention, it doesn’t always give the best results. But you might want to try it out and see for yourself.
What Linkbait Generator does is it allows you to come up with different types of titles for your blog posts. Great titles are what will get people to click on your posts.
Hope you found some of these tool helpful. Okay, I’m done with the tools suggestions for now. On to bigger and better things.
Enjoy!!!

Hi Adrienne,
Nice set of tools! I have heard or come across on some of them but the others are a surprise. I was looking for an alternative for SnagIt, the Screenr is surely an awesome capture tool on the go. I don’t even have to install anything on my laptop!
Thanks!

Hey Marlon,
I love it when I run across some really cool tools and especially if they are free. Glad that one of these you found useful.
Thanks a bunch for the comment.

You mean there’s a tool that doesn’t require you sifting through your entire MSWord font list? What a time-saver. I’ve actually never heard of the vast majority of tools on this list. A few co-workers and I were thinking about starting a blog for fun about the absurd city life. Of course, as you know, it’s hard to generate traffic and utilize tools to make it easier without going over board. What would you say the most essentials would be?
Hey Maggie,
There are a lot of fonts that I have run across that aren’t on MSWord which is why this tool comes in pretty handy. Hope you enjoy using it.
That’s great about creating a blog for absurd city life. If you are thinking about creating a WordPress blog then there are a lot of great plug-ins that will be very helpful for your blog. I have written a post on my favorite but also have provided a PDF list of the ones that I think are a must have on my training site. You might have to check that one out. There are so many it would take forever to list them all here.
Thanks for your comment and good luck with your blog.

Hi Adrienne,
I’m using Jing when recording some of my tutorials. Nice to know the Screenr i never thought they are similar with Jing. Thanks for sharing all those useful tools. I bookmarked this for future reference, keep posting.

Hey Michael,
The thing that I found that was cool about Screenr is that you can post your videos straight to YouTube. For some, that’s all they really use it for. So it’s another nice addition to a list of free services. Of course, you are limited to how much time you can shoot the video, I believe it’s still only 5 minutes.
Dang Michael, what a URL!!! I bet that gets a lot of attention. Talk about unique and out there!!! You are one brave dude!!!
